It's here; the new timber construction map! This map displays all timber construction projects (completed and under construction, residential and utility buildings) in the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Hedgehogs Mees Eringa & Imme Groet presented the map last week during the Annual Summit of Built by Nature.

Mapping the progress of timber construction

Mees: "With this new map, we can clearly show how much and where timber construction is already happening in the Amsterdam metropolitan area. The map also provides inspiration for parties in the sector who want to start with timber construction. Timber construction is suitable for all types of projects, as can be seen in the diverse examples presented on this map."

Presentation during the Annual Summit of Built by Nature

The theme of the Summit was “a celebration of innovation in new materials and the investment and policy possibilities shaping a timber and biobased future.”

Mees & Imme stood on stage in the afternoon among other interesting presentations from:

  • Tim den Dekker, Oliver Schofield & James Souter about their Commercial Timber Buildings Guidebook, a guide that addresses the challenges of fire safety and insurance regarding timber construction.
  • Fabienne Robert on the French SAFETI project: a plan where research is conducted on the most efficient solutions in case of fire, meeting the safety needs of residents and emergency services.

Thanks to Built by Nature for organising this wonderful event!
