CSRD-DAY; learning together with the market

Hedgehogs François Mahé and Saro Campisano attended CSRD-DAY2, organised by MVO Nederland: a day that brought together over 400 stakeholders involved in the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The event focused on sharing experiences and addressing common challenges to help organisations achieve CSRD compliance.

One key takeaway: the CSRD is the new sustainability-language we are all learning to speak. A complete new standard for sustainability. And like learning a new language, practise makes master.

This standardised framework unifies sustainability efforts and serves as a powerful tool against greenwashing. By using the same Double Materiality Assessment and reporting on consistent KPIs, organisations can set clear baselines. This enables meaningful comparisons across industries.

A useful tip for navigating CSRD compliance and assessing risks in your value chain: engage with knowledge partners to address complex issues. NGOs, in particular, can provide valuable insights into social and environemental indicators like labor conditions or offer specialized knowledge in sectors (e.g. mining and textile).

In addition to the insightful panel discussions and breakout sessions, it was great to see such a diverse group of attendees—ranging from sustainability consultants and organisations preparing for CSRD compliance, to software providers and government regulators—getting together for this important cause.
