Companies who want to communicate about the sustainability performance of their products are facing more and more legislations -and expectations- on this behalf. No company wants to be accused of greenwashing, and to make correct claims about your product, you need sustainability data to prove your points. Context: the increasing importance of proving environmental claims

The Canadian company SRTX builds new materials and software to enable better textiles. SRTX is best known for its first technology, Sheertex, a knit made from one of the world's strongest polymers which has disrupted hosiery through impossibly strong pantyhose.

Sheertex was driven by a commitment to enhance their environmental credentials and fulfil their corporate sustainability goals. Recognizing the increasing importance of environmental sustainability in the fashion industry, Sheertex aimed to substantiate their eco-friendly claims with data-backed evidence.

This vision was also pivotal in their decision to apply for B Corp certification, setting a benchmark for ethical and sustainable business practices.

The process towards legit claims

We partnered with Sheertex, to perform a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on one of their signature tights, contrasting it with a conventional product. This assessment was crucial in identifying key areas for environmental impact reduction on product level.

The study gave Sheertex insight into the environmental hotspots of their product, along its complete life cycle. With this information, Sheertex was able to make informed decisions, and a starting point to reduce their impact.

Furthermore, we conducted a detailed Corporate Carbon Footprint analysis, covering Scope1, 2, and 3 emissions. For Scope 3, particularly challenging due to its encompassing nature,we leveraged the data from the LCA, providing a more nuanced understanding of indirect emissions.

Our approach involved meticulous data collection and analysis, employing our Carbon Platform to facilitate ongoing monitoring and management of Sheertex’s emissions across all scopes.

This platform enabled Sheertex to not only capture and analyse yearly emissions-data effectively, but also supported their strategic decisions towards reducing their carbon footprint sustainably.
