The challenge
Aalberts HFC, a leader in hydronic flow control solutions, specializes in high-performance systems for heating and cooling applications. Their products are used across industries to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.
Aalberts needed to communicate the environmental footprint of their product range credibly and transparently through verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). This included multiple product sizes, and creating accurate and recognised EPDs for inclusion in the Environdec program.
The approach
We conducted a lifecycle assessment (LCA) with a cradle-to-grave scope, adhering to the EN15804+A2 standard, aligned with the Environdec PCR.
Given the variations in size and materials, we proposed grouping the product range into clusters and creating separate EPDs using average BoM data. Sensitivity analyses ensured accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
The solution
The verified EPDs provided Aalberts HFC with a recognised tool to showcase their product's environmental performance.
These were successfully included in the Environdec program, enabling the company to confidently communicate their sustainability credentials and meet market expectations.
