Timber construction
We believe that wood can play a key role in the transition to a sustainable construction sector. Wood is a renewable resource, absorbs CO₂ from the atmosphere during its growth, can store carbon in buildings, and can lead to lighter and more efficient transport.

We believe that wood can play a key role in the transition to a sustainable construction sector. Wood is a renewable resource, absorbs CO₂ from the atmosphere during its growth, can store carbon in buildings, and can lead to lighter and more efficient transport.
That’s why we support the transition to sustainable building materials, such as timber construction and other biobased materials. We conduct research and provide advice on sustainable material use and its application in construction projects. We do this at various levels: from individual builders, municipalities, and provinces to the (inter)national level.
Also, we are a partner in the Timber Construction Covenant of the Metropolitan Region of Amsterdam. Additionally, we collaborate with the organisation Built by Nature, which is dedicated to making the construction sector more sustainable. As part of this effort, we are developing a location monitor to track all projects realised in wood.
We are also a partner of Building Balance, which is implementing the national approach to biobased construction. Through Building Balance, we are exploring the possibilities for scaling up biobased building materials in the MRA and the province of Noord-Holland.
Furthermore, we have written the guideline on nitrogen-free housing construction for the province of Noord-Holland and are part of the timber construction consortium of Schools by Circlewood®.
