Today is Earth Overshoot Day; the day when humanity has used up all the ecological resources that the Earth can re-generate this year.

So from now on, no more production or consumption? Consequences are not that direct. But yes, in theory, we are in debt now to our planet.

And there are 5 more months this year. Until the calculation starts again, for next year. Because each year, the Global Footprint Network calculates how many days the Earth's natural resource budget (biocapacity) can meet humanity's demand (Ecological Footprint). And today we reached that point.

So, what to do?

💚 Move the date, make the balance between Biocapacity and Ecological Footprint more equal.

As the Global Footprint Network says: While our planet is finite, human possibilities are not. More information + solutions on their website: https://overshoot.footprintnetwork.org/
